This Spokane neighborhood is a desirable family-friendly and upper-income area located on the South Hill. It’s known for its tree-lined streets, spacious homes, and Comstock Park.

It’s composed of a mix of architectural styles, including Craftsman, Mid-Century Ranch, and grand mansions.

Comstock is not known to be entirely walkable, but some areas are known to be accessible to restaurants, grocery stores, and other amenities.

This small market in a former gas station has grocery, wine, produce, meat, cheese, a bakery, flowers, and somehow is able to fit a bistro in it.

Republic Pi
Artisan wood-fired pizza and 24 taps of craft beer? How is that even a question. They offer a rooftop bar and patio seating along with the stylish indoor setting.

Remedy Kitchen and Tavern
They have a wide variety on their menu sure to suit the palate of anyone in your party. Ranging from a healthy selection of starters, to salads, and entrees that include chili, fish and chips, a French dip, all in addition to a Fresh Sheet.

Chalet Restaurant
This is your destination for a cozy comfort food restaurant that has on its menu a chicken fried steak, roast turkey dinner, meatloaf, also offering salmon and fish and chips. There are sandwiches and burgers, soups and salads. The list really does go on, on this menu.

Recreation

The main recreational spot in Comstock is none other than Comstock Park. More than just a green space, it’s a vibrant, historic core of the neighborhood.

The land for the park was purchased and donated to the city in 1936 by Josie Comstock Shadle, the daughter of James M Comstock, an early Spokane pioneer, businessman (who founded The Crescent department store), and former mayor. Comstock Park was officially dedicated in 1938.

Some of its key amenities and features include:

Comstock Aquatic Center that includes a large swimming pool, a recreational swim area, a zero-depth entry for younger children, play features and water slides, and a remodeled bathhouse.

Sports facilities include pickleball courts (boasting 12 outdoor courts with permanent lines — bring your own net), tennis courts, various athletic fields for baseball/softball and other activities.

Playgrounds and structures and areas for children.

Green space of rolling green lawns and mature trees providing a pleasant environment for picnicking, relaxing and general outdoor enjoyment.

Walking paths throughout the park offering a nice place for a stroll or jog.

Annual events such as the Spokane Symphony Annual Labor Day Concert draws large crowds.
