What do you do with an abandoned former railyard and steam engine maintenance facility? Here in Spokane, we create a planned sustainable urban neighborhood and attract businesses to set up shop. That’s what we did with Kendall Yards.
Its 77 acres sits on the north side of the Spokane River, peering across the river to city center. Construction commenced following the project’s approval in 2010, housing units went on the market in 2012, and development has continued ever since.
Urban Village Life
Kendall Yards is the epitome of urban village living. With housing, mixed use retail, parks, and walking trails, everything is just a short walk away.
Townhouses and apartments line the streets, leading to the business district of the neighborhood offering restaurants, wine tasting, art galleries, and other small shops.
You’ll find Olmstead Brothers Green Park, where family and friends can meet to enjoy a playground, ample green space, and a picnic shelter.
The Nest provides a gathering place for concerts, outdoor events, or just watching the sunset.
Hook up with the Centennial Trail and head east if you want to head downtown, or west if you want to just explore the surrounding environs.
Food & Drink
For such a small area, Kendall Yards packs options galore.
