As mentioned, the prairie sits in the shadow of Mt Spokane, which offers 6 lifts to enjoy 52 ski runs of various skill levels, tube runs, lodging, and dining in the lodge.
Driving a short distance south, you can link up with the Centennial Trail at the Maringo pump station or Boulder Beach at Sekani, which also offers mountain bike and disc golf activities.
If, instead, you would rather dip in a lake in one of the many available in our area, you could consider Bear Lake, Long Lake, Hayden Lake, Newman Lake. There are so many to choose from.
Dining & Shopping
For your dining and shopping pleasure, there are grocery stores to the south in Millwood, and to the east in Mead.
For a change of pace, during the growing seasons, you could make a drive up to Green Bluff and enjoy the small farms, many of which offer the chance to pick your own fruits and vegetables (or choose from the already-harvested in their stores). There’s a variety of offerings here, including wineries and breweries. You won’t want to miss Harvest Festival on the bluff which offers family-friendly fun with corn mazes, pumpkin patches, and delicious pumpkin donuts. During the holiday season, you can even cut your own Christmas tree at the many U-Cut tree farms.
