HUG Construction was founded in 2001 by Titus Hug and has since become one of Spokane’s most respected construction firms. From the very beginning, the company has focused on more than just building structures; it aims to make a positive impact on the people and communities it serves, one project at a time.
More than two decades later, that philosophy continues to guide every aspect of HUG Construction’s work. With over 50 employees and a growing portfolio of residential and commercial projects across the Inland Northwest, HUG has distinguished itself not by specializing in a single type of build, but by focusing on something far more lasting: people.
Values That Shape The Work
HUG Construction is guided by its core values, known internally as the Four H’s: Honor, Honesty, Humility, and Hustle. These principles serve as a framework for how the company interacts with its clients, employees, subcontractors, and the community.
Honor begins with respect for employees, clients, and the spaces HUG is invited into. From job sites to offices, the company emphasizes treating people and their environments with care and professionalism.
Honesty reinforces that commitment through clear, open communication at every stage of a project, ensuring transparency and trust across all working relationships.
Humility plays an equally important role. HUG Construction believes accountability and continuous improvement are essential to growth. When challenges arise, as they inevitably do in construction, the team focuses on owning the issue, addressing it directly, and making things right.
Hustle captures the company’s strong work ethic and determination to deliver quality results without cutting corners.
Built Around Experience
Rather than defining itself by a single specialty, HUG Construction serves both residential and commercial clients with a shared expectation of a positive, transparent construction experience from start to finish. Whether it’s a kitchen remodel or a large commercial tenant improvement, the company’s approach remains centered on communication, clarity, and care.
Every project begins with direct human connection. Clients speak with a real person from the very first interaction, reinforcing HUG’s commitment to accessibility and responsiveness. From there, a dedicated estimating team guides clients through the proposal process before transitioning them to a project manager who remains their primary point of contact throughout construction.
This continuity ensures that expectations are clear, progress is communicated, and clients feel supported every step of the way. Projects conclude with finishing photography and often a testimonial, allowing HUG to reflect on the work completed and welcome clients into their newly transformed spaces.
A Project Worth Celebrating
Among HUG Construction’s many accomplishments, one recent project stands out as a significant milestone. The company completed a major tenant improvement remodel for what is now the largest Ashley Furniture store in the world, located at Spokane Northtown mall. The project also marked Ashley Furniture’s entry into the Pacific Northwest, making it a meaningful achievement for both organizations.

The project’s success led HUG Construction to take on additional work for Ashley Furniture in Moscow, Idaho, with more regional projects planned for the future, showing how their approach and values consistently deliver results clients can rely on.
Partnership with TPM
Since joining TPM, the company has taken advantage of a wide range of member resources. From on-site forklift training and safety education to HR and legal guidance, TPM’s services have played a meaningful role in supporting HUG’s operations, especially during a period of rapid growth over the past few years. Having expert resources available as new challenges arise has helped the company navigate expansion while maintaining its commitment to safety, compliance, and employee wellbeaing.
Giving Back on a Global Scale
What may surprise some is just how deeply philanthropy is woven into HUG Construction’s identity. From the beginning, the company has been passionate about improving the world, not only through construction, but through charitable action.
Titus Hug serves as president of Heroes of the Nation, a Kenya-based organization that began as an orphanage and school and has grown into a life-changing support system for hundreds of children. HUG Construction donates one percent of all revenue to charitable causes, with Heroes of the Nation holding a special place at the center of that mission.
Today, the organization supports approximately 400 children, providing education, stability, and opportunities for higher learning. Titus travels to Africa multiple times each year to remain actively involved, and several HUG Construction employees have also participated in trips, an experience many describe as both humbling and transformative.

Looking Ahead
As HUG Construction continues to grow, one thing remains non-negotiable: its commitment to people. Regardless of size or scope, the company strives to lead with integrity, humility, and purpose.
For HUG Construction, success isn’t measured solely by completed projects or square footage. It is reflected in relationships built, communities strengthened, and the belief that construction, when done with intention, can truly make the world a better place.
